Convent of Santa María de Jesús
Ávila
The construction of this building started in the 16th century, although little remains of that period. The convent is popularly known as "Las Gordillas", because it was founded on a property with the same name outside Ávila. The church is made of brick and has a single nave. Inside we find the convent choir, under a tierceron vault. In the main chapel there is a Neo-Baroque altarpiece. The church was declared a National Monument in 1991.
