Church of Santa María la Nueva (Noia)
This is one of Spain's most representative Gothic churches. It was built in 1327 over an old Romanesque church. The church has a single nave with a squared sanctuary and sturdy walls. A sacristy, chapel and a portico were added during the 18th century. Highlights on the inside include the main altarpiece in the Rococo style. The chapel of the Carneiro family opens onto the church through a Plateresque arch, and is covered with a vault. It is home to several tombs, including particularly that of Pedro Carneiro. Of special interest are the tombstones associated with the craftsmen's guilds in the churchyard gardens.
