Monte Santiago Natural Monument

It is located in the province of Burgos (Castilla y León), right on the border with the Basque territories of Álava and Vizcaya.
The landscape is dominated by a lush and well-preserved beech forest that extends to the edge of a rocky amphitheatre, formed by the peaks of the Sierra Salvada. The Salto del Nervión is notable for its spectacular 300-meter-high waterfall and characteristic horsetail shape. The watercourse of the waterfall runs entirely across the Basque Country but can be seen just a few meters away from one of the viewpoints on Monte Santiago. In addition, next to the waterfall are the remains of an old wolf trap. You can watch and enjoy the spectacular flight of numerous birds of prey that nest in the Nervión Canyon.
