Agüimes is a historic town of beautiful landscapes and a huge wealth of crafts and folklore.
The surrounding area has wonderful natural scenery, such as the protected area of Agüimes mountain, where you will find Morro del Cuervo, an archaeological site which displays examples of cave painting. Other places of interest in the area are the buildings of Temisas, with its hermitage of San Miguel from the 18th century, the Guayadeque ravine, an interesting village of cave dwellings, and the petroglyphs of Balos, one of the most important series of aboriginal rock carvings on the archipelago. In town stands the church of San Sebastián, declared to be Historic-Artistic Heritage and which contains work by local artists such as Luján Pérez del Moro.
