Sword Festival

Santísimo Cristo and San Vicente Ferrer patron saint's day fiesta

Festivity of National Tourist Interest
Huesca

These festivities comprise numerous, highly interesting folklore events.

They are the most important fiestas in Graus, in the province of Huesca. One of the most important moments is the celebration of the “mojiganga”. It is an extravagant carnival group that covers a route through the village, finishing with a performance in Plaza Mayor Square with a satirical take on society. Village residents act out this humorous, critical pantomime.

Other important events during the fiestas are the typical Las Cintas (similar to Morris dancing), palitroques (with small poles) and espadas (with swords) dances, the “giants and big-heads” parade, and the “albadas” (songs performed in the streets in the early hours).
